The Kanchenjunga trip is a solitary and spectacular trip that takes you far into the Himalayas in eastern Nepal, near to the Indian state of Sikkim. You will be rewarded for your effort as you go to the base camp of the magnificent Mount Kanchenjunga, the third-highest summit in the world, with beautiful views of the Kanchenjunga massif and the neighboring peaks. As you journey through the isolated and rugged region, you’ll pass through thick rhododendron woods, undulating high-altitude meadows, and scenic towns, providing you with a unique glimpse into the life of the numerous ethnic communities that call this area home. The opportunity to interact with the locals, enjoy their cuisine, and discover their customs and traditions will make this trip even more memorable.

Starting with a short flight to Bharadpur airport, our trek begins through Taplejung. Enjoying the rare vibe of eastern Nepal we head towards Taplethok. Passing many villages such as Amjilosha, Gyapla, Ghunsa, Kampuchean, Lhonak along the way with their own authenticity and uniqueness, we finally reach Pangpema, which is our destination and highest point of the trek. Via the North Base Camp of Kanchenjunga, you can enjoy the spectacular sceneries of Kanchenjunga Main (8,586m), West (8,505m), South ( 8,494m) and central (8,482m) along with lots of lower snowcapped peaks. The experience comes to a conclusion when we retrace the same way back to Taplejung and fly magnificently back to Kathmandu.

As we proceed, let’s pause to take in the expansive vistas of the Himalayas and take some pictures to preserve this moment in time. Additionally, we’ll pass through tiny towns where we may talk to the welcoming locals and discover more about their customs and culture.

Day 11Lhonak to Pangpema (Kanchenjunga North Base Camp).

Today you will be packing the lunch before leaving the camp at Ramche, as you set off very early for the earliest sealing meet with Kanchenjunga. You will be going after the valley around its far-reaching arc; as you will be coming across the cosmic southern wall of the mountain. The ridge forms a cirque which is over 15 kilometers long and not less than 7500 m high. Along this rim stretch out the three main zeniths of Mt Kanchenjunga at 8420m, 8586m, and 8474m. These towering zeniths extend out into the sky presenting a real regal spectacle. Advancing further along the trial towards Oktang 4630m, you will be sliding down onto the glacier and cross it to a tip below Talu from where you can witness the scenic view of the mountains in the vicinity. The most notable part is the eastern fraction of Khumbakarna Glacier flowing from the east face of Mt.Jannu Kumbhakarna being the local name for Jannu]. After completion of the memorable exploration on the foothills of Kanchenjunga you will return back to Ramche for the night camp.

Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included.

Day 14Amjilosha to Chhirua. Walking 6:30 hours

Making a game out of counting the many bird species we see along the way or the number of waterfalls we pass by will make the 6–7 hours hour trip from Amjilosha to Chhirua enjoyable.
