Details

Mera Peak is one of the isolated excursions in the Everest Region. The peak is claimed to be the highest hiking peak of Nepal at the altitude of 6,476 meters. This isolated trek lets you explore the unexplored route of famous Sagarmatha Zone. Throughout the journey to the summit you get to take in the stunning views of iconic Mount Everest(8,848.86m), Lhotse (8,516m), Cho Oyu (8,201m), Makalu (8,485m) and Kanchenjunga (8,586m).  You also get to learn the fundamental experience on mountain climbing, including how to use mountaineering gears like ice axe, crampon etc. Mera Peak is the best opportunity to get the firsthand experience on mountain climbing, before aiming for the higher mountains. But before you join us for this exciting adventure, there is one thing we need you to do. Start exercising at least 3 months prior and keep your body fit. For the travel arrangements, just leave it to our experts.

Mera peak expedition commences with a stunning flight to Lukla. Passing through many remote villages like Chutenga, Thuli Kharka, Mausam Kharka, Tagnag and Khare we reach Mera High Camp. On 11th day after the trek kicks off, and the weather conditions works on our favor you’ll have officially conquered the Mera Peak summit. We return to Gothey and trek back to Lukla via Thuli Kharka and finally taking a flight back to bustling city of Kathmandu. Except from the mountains, the trek is also full of other adventures such as unique taste of local Nepalese foods, Sherpa Settlements, Cultural Sightseeing, Nepalese vegetations and a lot more.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival day in Kathmandu (1400m)

On your arrival, you’ll be greeted by our Airport Representative. They’ll transfer you to your accommodation and brief you about the journey ahead.

Day 2Rock climbing / Kathmandu Sightseeing (1,300m/4,264 ft)

We’ll proceed on a quick tour of the most important UNESCO-listed world heritage sites in Kathmandu after breakfast. You also have an option to do rock climbing in the afternoon. Following a briefing, you can begin making preparations for the trek.

Day 3Flight to Lukla (2,840m/9,186ft), Trek to Chutenga (3,430m/11,250ft), 3-4 hrs walk

Transfer to the domestic airport in the morning. You take a quick flight to the airport in Lukla and then climb toward Chutenga. Today’s trek will be short, i.e. around 3-4 hours. Spend the night in a local teahouse.

Day 4Trek to Thuli Kharka (4,000m/13,160ft), 5-6 hrs walk

Following early breakfast, we head towards high altitude village named Thuli Kharka. Thuli Kharka provides you with exceptional mountain views with delicious local foods as a bonus. Spend the night at Thuli Kharka.

Day 5Trek to Mausum Kharka (3,430m/11,250ft), 3-4 hrs walk

Today we decend towards slightly lower altitude to the village named Mausam Kharka. Like Thuli Kharka, Mausam Kharka is also known for its welcoming people and their unique culture. Spend the night in a local lodge.

Day 6Trek to Tagnag (4,360m/14,301ft), 5-6 hrs walk

We head towards Tagnag. Tagnag is a beautiful village popular for its green forests and mountain sceneries. As we continuously gain higher altitude you might get to feel the traces of snow and extreme cold from here on out.

Day 7 Acclimatization in Tagnag

As a standard procedure, we’ll be taking a rest day and acclimatize our body with the altitude. Go for a quick trek to one of the nearby sites to take in the mountain scenery. Take a stroll around the streets of Tagnag in the evening. Spend the night in Tagnag.

Day 8Trek to Khare (5,000m/16,400ft), 4-5 hrs walk

We finally make it to 5000 meters. Khare is a small Sherpa Settlement in a very high altitude. The warm and welcoming people will make you feel at home, as we eat local foods they prepared for us.

Day 9Acclimatization in Khare

As we have gained more altitude than 5000 meters, we’ll be taking a rest day again today and acclimatize our body with the altitude. Go for a quick trek to one of the nearby sites to take in the mountain scenery. Spend the night in Khare.

Day 10Mera High Camp (5,800m/19,024ft), 5-6 hrs walk

It’s time to head towards the high camp. The trek gets tougher as we gain altitude, so we take it slow and steady. If the weather is clear the mountainous views will get even more heavenly. Spend the night at a tent in High Camp.

Day 11Mera Summit (6, 476m/21,240ft); return to lower Base Camp at (5,315m/17,433ft)

Finally, after our long journey we reach the summit of infamous Mera Peak. Situated at 6,476m from the sea level, Mera Peak provides mesmerizing views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Kanchanjunga, and Lhotse with other mighty mountains. We head back to the base camp after enjoying the views.

Day 12Spare Summit Attempt

We leave this day free as a contingency for unforeseen cicumstances. We’ll summit a day early if weather conditions and everything goes per our plan.

Day 13Return to Gothey (3600m/11,812ft)

We head down to Gothey village. This village has its own unique appearance, which lets us experience the authenticity of remote Nepalese regions. We spend the night at Gothey.

Day 14Trek to Thuli Kharka (4250m/13,944ft)

Following early breakfast, we head back towards high altitude village named Thuli Kharka. Thuli Kharka provides you with exceptional mountain views with delicious local foods as a bonus. Spend the night at Thuli Kharka.

Day 15 Trek to Lukla via Zatrwa La (4,600m/15,093ft)

Following early breakfast, we head back towards high altitude village named Thuli Kharka. Thuli Kharka provides you with exceptional mountain views with delicious local foods as a bonus. Spend the night at Thuli Kharka.

Day 16 Fly from Lukla (2840m) to Kathmandu (1400m)

Finally, after 13 days of hike we’ll take a short flight back to Kathmandu via Lukla airport. You’ll be transferred to your accommodation via a private vehicle. You’ll have the rest of the day free for packing or strolling through the streets of Kathmandu. Stay the night at the hotel of your preference.

Day 17Departure day from Kathmandu (1400m)

Finally, the journey comes to a conclusion. Three hours before your trip, we’ll drop you off at the airport. I hope the trip was successful and you made life-long memories. We’ll meet up when you return to this quaint, stunning, and wonder-filled nation. Farewell.
